For years it felt like my husband and I were alone in our age group when it came to focusing on helping humanity to respond to the new realities created by globalization. But when we found NEXU S in 2011 we discovered 350 others who, like ourselves, have been blessed to have the means to make a major positive change in the world and who are willing to set egos aside to form effective for-profit/non-profit collaborations aimed at creating sustainable solutions. For with today’s information technology we, (20 -40yrs), are the first generation to have no excuse for ignorance. This means that we will have to become consciously aware of how we are creating the culture around ourselves through our investments, philanthropy and entrepreneurism. Because of this, Joshua and I are leading The Memnosyne Foundation in creating an online networking site aimed at empowering the NEXUS past, current and future attendees to continue their humanitarian collaborations into the decades ahead, as well as to keep each other informed about both the potentially positive and negative influences our investments are having in each other’s international backyards. This is important because many people don’t have a voice, so we are proposing to NEXUS 2012’s 500 attending to make a pledge to each other to be that voice for humanity and the planet. Realizing our dream of helping to galvanize a generation and turn individuals’ passions into a movement of personal accountability, humanitarian vision and environmental responsibility is the power NEXUS has had on our work in The Memnosyne Foundation!
