Each year, Acumen Fund accepts applications for a one-year fellowship program designed to train the next generation of leaders for the social impact sector. Acumen Fund is a global venture fund that tries to solve the problems of poverty by investing in companies that bring access to critical goods and services to those living below the poverty line.
Fellows undergo two months of leadership training in New York and are then placed in one of Acumen Fund’s global investments for nine months. Unlike their East Africa and Pakistan Fellows Programs, the Global Fellows Program is full-time rather than part-time and accepts candidates from all over the world.
Competitive applicants for the Global Fellows Program will meet the following criteria:
- Strong business experience – such as finance, operations, or consulting
- Demonstrated passion and commitment to creating positive social change
- Proven track record of leadership and management responsibilities
- Experience living and working in emerging markets
- Unrelenting perseverance, moral fiber, and critical thinking skills
- 3-5 years of work experience
Many fellows that graduate the program continue to fight against poverty by leading social change inside existing private companies or starting their own ventures. The upcoming program will start September 2013 and Acumen Fund is currently looking for a group of individuals that will join the next class.
